Description

Officially, the policy was “one card per Pokémon GO account,” and players were required to provide their game ID and personal information. Combined with a limited daily distribution quota, this made the card extremely difficult to obtain.

In the early stages of the event, chaos ensued as approximately 40,000 people flocked to the venue to claim the cards. The organizers temporarily suspended the on-site redemption process, causing the price of this Magikarp special card to skyrocket to around 23,000 yen on the secondary market within a short period, sparking widespread discussion. Subsequently, an “online reissue” program was arranged for affected players.

Market and Collectible Value

Due to its status as a Korea-exclusive card with strict acquisition requirements, combined with its role as an event emblem and its popular artwork, this promo card quickly became one of the most talked-about Magikarp cards in the 2026 PTCG.
